Minalex has always been a family business. Jim Casey founded Minalex in 1965 and played an active role in the company for more than a half century. Vicki, Michael, and Chris Casey have been involved with the family business as well. Sadly, Jim passed away last month, and the entire Minalex family has fond memories of our friend and leader.
The family-friendly approach at Minalex is a big reason why several multi-generational families work here. At one point, there was a family with three generations working at Minalex at the same time!
The Allen family is a perfect example of the family tradition at Minalex.
Meet the Allen Family
The Allens have a history with Minalex that dates back more than 30 years. Minalex Quality Manager Ron Allen joined the company in 1989. He has plenty of reasons for staying with Minalex but is especially grateful for the flexibility that has allowed him to raise his family.
Tristan Allen, Ron’s son, started working at Minalex as an 18-year-old college student. After receiving his first paycheck, Tristan wanted to work full-time. He explored other opportunities but realized Minalex was the best fit. “There aren’t many places like Minalex,” said Tristan, who works in both the Quality and Tooling departments. “You feel comfortable because you’re working with friendly people while you continue to learn.”
Renee Allen, Ron’s daughter and Tristan’s sister, joined the Minalex family in 2020 during the pandemic, following in her father’s footsteps in the Quality department. Renee has since moved into the role of Sales Engineer and continues to excel and grow with Minalex.
Tim Zimmerman, Ron’s son-in-law and proud father of a toddler, enjoys working close to home with Minalex after leaving a career that required a lot of traveling.
Every member of the Allen family has spoken about the flexibility offered by Minalex. With generous medical leave, vacation days, and paternity leave for dads, not many companies can match the family vibe of Minalex, which has resulted in a very high employee retention rate.
Ultimately, it all comes down to family – family values, flexibility for families, and an approach to business that prioritizes the families of every member of the Minalex team.
Just ask the Allens.
