Minalex Provides Gunstocks of the Highest Caliber

Working with one of our trusted supply chain partners, Minalex recently delivered an order of unique cylindrical gunstocks! These cutting-edge gunstocks are now a critical component of a newly designed folding-stock pistol caliber carbine (PCC), developed by one of the firearms industry’s oldest, most iconic names.

In addition to gunstocks, a variety of other parts made of aluminum play a significant role in PCCs for several reasons:

WEIGHT REDUCTION: Much lighter than steel, aluminum is commonly used especially in non-structural components like handguards or lower receivers, significantly reducing the overall weight of the firearm. This weight reduction enhances portability and maneuverability without sacrificing durability.

CORROSION RESISTANCE: Aluminum’s natural corrosion resistance properties make it ideal for use in firearms exposed to moisture and other environmental elements. In various outdoor conditions aluminum components help ensure the longevity and reliability of the firearm by minimizing the risk of corrosion-related damage.

THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY: Due to its excellent thermal conductivity, aluminum quickly dissipates heat away from critical components like barrels or handguards. In PCCs, where rapid firing can generate significant heat, aluminum parts help prevent overheating and maintain optimal operating conditions, thus contributing to improved performance and reliability.

CUSTOMIZATION AND MODULARITY: Aluminum is relatively easy to machine and shape, allowing for complex designs and customization options. In addition, aluminum’s modularity facilitates the integration of accessories such as optics, lights, and grips, enhancing the firearm’s versatility and usability.

BOTTOM LINE VALUE: Compared to other materials, Aluminum offers a balance of performance, durability, and cost-effectiveness. Aluminum components provide high strength-to-weight ratios and durability comparable to steel at a lower cost, making them a preferred choice for many firearm applications, including PCCs.

By leveraging the unique properties of aluminum, manufacturers can produce lightweight, durable, and versatile PCCs as well as many others that meet the demands of firearms across various applications.

With experience in crafting many different firearm components, including Picatinny rails, we have unsurpassed production and finishing capabilities along with a broad range of value-added services. Our parts feature tolerances as tight as +/- 0.001″, with walls measuring just 0.020″ and holes at 0.045″.

The result? Perfect fit to ensure seamless integration with other components and materials.
