Minalex Extrusions Help PipeMaster Do the Job Right

PipeMaster is the classic example of building a tool out of frustration and exasperation because no better alternative exists. While repairing boats back in 1995, the owner and maker of PipeMaster was struggling to match up the size of pipes for welding when he got to the joint of a curved pipe.

When a trip to the hardware store only added to his frustration, he went back to the shop and, after a lot of trial and error, PipeMaster emerged.

PipeMaster slides over a tube or pipe and presses up against the shape you want to match. The steel pins inside PipeMaster contour to the desired shape so you can accurately trace and cut the tube or pipe to the correct size and angle. PipeMaster is used by welders for automotive, marine, and industrial welding.

So, what does any of this have to do with Minalex? Well, the Minalex team extrudes the aluminum rings that hold the steel pins in place inside PipeMaster tools.

Without getting into the dirty details, the PipeMaster folks came to Minalex because they needed an extrusion for the ring that was lightweight and durable. The fit had to be perfect. They were in a jam because existing dyes had been lost and demand for PipeMaster was increasing.

In other words, they came to Minalex when they were in a bind. And Minalex came through in a big way.

There are two main takeaways here. First, when you need a part for a unique tool, Minalex is capable of meeting very specific requirements to ensure the tool meets the expectations of the customer.

Second, Minalex offers more than precision aluminum extrusion manufacturing. We’re a team of problem solvers. Tell us what you want to accomplish. Tell us your challenges. Tell us your timeline. If there’s any way to make it happen, Minalex will find a way. PipeMaster is just another example of how we step up to the plate for our clients.
